Mask Variance Replaced

Late Friday afternoon, Sublette County Health Officer (CHO) Dr. Brendan Fitzsimmons submitted a new request to the Wyoming Department of Health for a countywide mandatory face covering variance.

This new request replaces the variance request CHO Fitzsimmons had submitted earlier in the week that addressed both face coverings and the size of gatherings. After conferring with the state’s other CHOs later in the week, members of the group from throughout the state agreed to submit variance requests using the same general template.

CHO Fitzsimmons submitted the new request for Sublette County on Friday, as did CHOs from an unknown number of counties.

CHO Fitzsimmons said, “It's felt that the identicality of these orders will speed their approval. Moreover, I think it's important for Sublette County to stand in solidarity with our sister counties, many of whom are in a desperate situation right now.”
